Yes there is some load data in hornady 5th edition, I am sure there is more in other editions.

Re: Wichita 7mm int-r

Many years ago Pachmayr made a conversion upper for a 1911 to shoot rifle cartridges. It didn't go over very well for the same recoil reasons you are experiencing with your Wichita.
1911 grip angle works great for 45s and other pistol cartridges but really become handfuls when using rifle like ...

Re: Wichita 7mm int-r

What he Said, but its cool. I have mentioned this before, my BFR in 45-70 with full power loads is much more pleasant to shoot, but i am not giving up on the ol wichita! I tried some trail boss with 11 grains today, was pretty nice, will be trying h4895 this weekend. But i have to remill a new scope ...

Re: Wichita 7mm int-r

I think i will try both, i have some TB will be picking up some h4895 tomorrow. I also installed a hogue grip, it feels like it will be more easy to handle the muzzle rise with this grip.

Re: Wichita 7mm int-r

I called Hornady and Hodgdon this morning. I was told i can use trail boss loaded to the bottom of the bullet minus 30% for mins or H4895 loaded to 30% less than maximum load.

Re: Wichita 7mm int-r

If its 7mm int-r info that will help, not sure what 7r is. It is a handful, but not nearly as bad as the savage stiker pistol i had in 308, i sold it and bought a remington XP-100 in 221 FB, much more pleasant to shot.

Re: Wichita 7mm int-r

I agree but since this is an obscure cartridge, its hard finding info. I loaded the least i could for the info i found. I am not sure how to find a safe powder charge to use without any books to show me the way.

Re: Wichita 7mm int-r

I shot 5 roubnds 100gr with 29.4 grains of h335 today as a test before i load more. It does have less recoil than the 160's but still is harder to control than other big bore pistols i have. I suspect the grip is part of the problem. I ordered the pearce 1911 finger grip for it, maybe this will help ...
