First off, thanks Richard: for starting this thread and also for the kind words in the original post.

My goal this year is to shoot a 40X40 Half Scale........with cast bullets of course.
I'm, also in the process of building a new Unlimited gun (for cast bullets) and hope to have it ready sometime this season.

Still looking for a 40 with the 7-08 Striker / cast bullets gona tweak the alloy a little . Last year I tried FP only had my GP 100 357 that's a challenge. I them had another shooter who has many FP Club pins on his shooting box let me fire off a few with his 22Hornet tender FPAS gun, now that was sweet. I didn't find a Hornet barrel but I got a good deal on a 357 Mag barrel . I have it set up with Ex High rings & 3 X 9 scope . I shot it a few times the other week and it has promise . I fired up the pot last weekend got out my 358477 Lyman mold( drop out at 155 gr/w WW's & 2% tin - sized .358 - Carnubia Red lube) & I got a hundred loaded to see what this thing will do . I also got some recruitment to do , A buddy of mine got a 22Contender for Christmas & we're getting together to shoot a few . He doesn't know I'll bring some black 3/8 animals on cardboard . Also wish you a speedy recovery Richard

I have a 7PPC but haven't found any load info. What's your Dad shooting? Where did he get dies? I think I know where to get dies, but load info is non-existent. Is he opening up 6PPC brass or is 7PPC available?

Thanks,

Troy
Was lucky and got the dies with the gun.

the 7PPC is still a wildcat.. so no brass of the shelf. He formed all his from Lapua 7.62x39 cases.. Can make them from 220 Russian also.. just the price of 220Rus Lapua brass is WAY more.

CH4D would do the dies for you... I will get the load data of dad when I talk to him next... When I first found the 7PPC for dad I checked with Carroll at Sierra for any data.. there is non around... but his advice was as follows...

"I don’t have any data for it but I would start with the 7BR starting loads or slightly under and work up. You could also start at the top 7TCU loads and work up"

Hope that helps.. its a very cool little case :)

My goal for 2014 is to shoot the first 40 standing. I shot two 37s and a 39 in .22 US this past year, and with a BB gun being built right now specifically for standing, I think it can be done if I get that one day where all the stars are in alignment as far as weather conditions, personal health and preparation, luck, and all those other factors that it takes to be good in this challenging sport.

Thanks for stepping up to the plate as a Match Director, Mike. That is one of the main causes of the decline in IHMSA participation. At many ranges, Match Directors get little or no help, and after years of performing all the duties, they just get burned out and quit. Then, no one new volunteers to take their place and silhouette dies at another range. Elgin Gates described them very well as Silhouette ASS's, Arrive-Shoot-Split. Can't be bothered to help in any way, but you better have everything ready to go for the next match, and they will be the first to complain if things aren't perfect.

Thanks Bobcat. That was a lot of help. I had a 6PPC in a 40X years ago and forgot I made those out of .22 Russian. I will go the 7.62 route and the CH4D route, and take the BR/TCU suggestion.

Thanks again,
Troy

Dad is running 25.8gr Benchmark (BM2 out here) with a 110gr Speer pill. makes for a good HS gun. :)

Is yours a Factory Wichita 7PPC?

The Wichita's all seam to be 7mPPC IMP. (all the ones I have seen.... and 90% of those with the "Classic" release.

You talkin' about me ole? I'm not gloom and doom, just casting my vote for what I want to keep, and what I can live without. And by the way, Lane Kiffen isn't nearly as criminal as his rap sheet would make him appear. (haha)
