Rodent,
I loved the 2011 BB & HS Championship in Gordonsville, and would be thrilled to venture there again. It's a really nice range and the people are OK also :D :))
The last Region 2 Small Bore & Field Pistol Championship, I believe, was held at Cherokee Gun Club in Gainesville, GA; and it was a reasonably well attended match. The issue is that it requires a fair amount of work before and after and Regional Championship, including securing trophies.
You can count on me if you decide to have it !!!

Thanks alot Robert. I does indeed look like it is going to happen. But not official until the news comes from the Directors. We are going to be installing some new rails and we will have it looking good.

We also enjoyed the 2011 BB/HS Regional Match very much and everyone was very accommodating. Judy and I are planning on shooting more SB and FP next year as well. Count us in ....

Mike "Rodent",
Melvin and I will be there; eating all our B'Fast and Dinners at the IHOP next door to the hotel. Mike, please check to see if there will be a U of VA sporting event during that Memorial Day weekend, that could impact when we needed to make hotel reservations. Last time we stayed at the Best Western Plus Inn & Suites in Zion Crossing, VA; right off the interstate. Looking forward to VA again !!!!

To all, Please read my post carefully. I do not want to step on anyones toes.

I realize that some shooters that have shot at our place don't like it. We shoot down hill at the chickens then slightly up hill at the rams. It has been called the hardest .22 range in the country. But, we have one bank of every target on mechanical reset, Thus we would be able to shoot a combined Regional. Starting on thursday and shooting long days we could run probably 420 guns through. That is with 1 bank of bigbore, halfscale, smallbore, field pistol and fifth scale. I realize that number is really ambitious and 300 is a more attainable number. As long as there is not a major breakdown. My point is with mechanical resets you don't have to have a bunch of banks to run a lot of shooters through. But I would like to see a match like Steve's WCC in this general area. I just don't think I would want to run it.

Greg, it is not that much work if you are well organized. If you really want to put something on that the WCC (& I think it would be great if you would), I would be happy to give you some helpful hints which I have learned through the years.

Greg,
I would volunteer to use the IHMSA software to set-up the match, including pre-registration, if you chose to do it that way and to input all the score cards into the software program + I would be willing to perform some "Line Calling" duties, if necessary. How about that ??

I am an old fashion kind of guy. I have a system where it is done in long hand. I can tell in a glance who needs to shoot-off, who's first second and so forth and the aggregates. The farther I stay away from computers the better.

Steve, Running a match with a few hundred guns over 4 and a half days is not much of a problem. I have a great match director and club members who will help. As stated before ther is little down time between relays, because we have reset targets and a automated line calling device.

I have thought about having a match like Steve's before. I'm just afraid because it's not a "true" championship match many shooters may not come. With the Internationals gravitating to the west it may be a good thing to do. We'll see.
