Hi these are my clicks using a standard T/C 7mmTCU 10" barrel and sights. Boolit was the RCBS 145gr.


Chicken LJB 6
Pig Rail 4
turkey Rail 2
Ram Rail 3

Forgive my ignorance, but what do these # & letters mean--LBJ 6, rail 4, and so on? Any particular type sights? I have the same barrel , not sure about sights.

I would guess the LJB means he holds where the leg joins the body on chickens, and holds rail on pigs, coming up 4 clicks, then up 2 more for turkeys, then another 3 up for rams. But, I'm just guessing

Sorry, yes Melvin is correct, Leg joins body on the chicken and then rail holds for the rest.

You might leave a ram every now and then, but I have had very good luck with a 135 gr cast bullet out of a 7br. I am not pushing it much harder than you are. I am using sr4759 for powder and have been very happy with it.

Well, 1st match under my belt. Did better than I expected, but a long way from what I wanted. I hit 12 out of 40. I did hit 3 turkeys, I really didn't think I would hit 1, but then even a blind squirrel can find a nut every now & then, LOL. The last bank of rams are the only ones that I missed all 5. Hope to do more sighting in and more trigger time before next month's match. I mostly was shooting high and would overcompensate and shoot low. The president of the club offered to coach and spot for me, I really appreciated that! Special thanks to Catawba Valley Rifle & Pistol Club in Hickory , NC . (Of which I hope to become a member of next month) .
I'm thinking about putting a scope on so I can see better. The open sights were not to bad but I think I would do better with the scope.

Tim, Thanks for the feedback from your first match. You got to hit each of the animals so your load must be fairly accurate so you know you can work with that at your next match. Sight settings are on again and off again for me and iron sights these days. Don't know if I can't see the sights or I just plain don't aim right. A scope will definitely help lining up the targets but the long eye relief scopes bring their own challenges too. Sounds like a great place to shoot and you got first hand help from the main man himself. Keep up the good work. Have fun! Lynn
