Website upgrade
Re: Website upgrade
Dan, the new format looks nice. The only thing missing from the old format that I liked was the date of the last posting. Now you got to wade through each category to find it. Otherwise, I like it.

Re: Website upgrade
actually, they changed that. at the top now, there is a pull down menu called quick links. it has ways to lookup like any new posts since last login, unread posts, etc.LOCKHART wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2019 9:08 am Dan, the new format looks nice. also, there is a bell called 'Notifications' which will turn Red when any new posts in any thread you are subscribed to (you are automatically subscribed when you post to a thread) and any PM's received.
kind of different but it works..

Re: Website upgrade
forgot also, the forums seem to be loading faster now also.
and it is now sending out emails correctly again!
the attachments still are a bit of a pain.

Re: Website upgrade
One strange thing I have noticed is when I first login or just visit without logging in, the forum has wide left and right margins. If I surf around the various topics and come back to the main index page, I sometimes do a screen refresh to see if my posts/replies show up. When I do the refresh, the page expands left and right and the margins are very narrow. Really spreads out the look of the forum. Don't know why a screen refresh would change the looks. No info is lost so no big deal.
1824 EST Update
I tried a screen refresh on this topic page and margins did not move. I was not logged in at the time. I even tried a refresh on the main page and margins did not widen.
Then I logged in and when I was returned to the main page the margins were narrow and are still narrow as I type this info. Not critical but the looks change from narrow to wide.

Re: Website upgrade
Here's how I do it: use this link http://www.ihmsa.org/forum/search.php?s ... d=newposts then save the link in bookmarks/favorites. This has worked for me on many different php powered boards.LOCKHART wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2019 9:08 am Dan, the new format looks nice. using the quick links pulldown and picking the New posts does the same as this..contender1121 wrote: Sat Aug 10, 2019 9:01 amHere's how I do it: use this link http://www.ihmsa.org/forum/search.php?s ... d=newposts then save the link in bookmarks/favorites. You hit the one problem that now happens with all forum software and it is due to making the site compatible with mobile devices. It will auto size depending on what your browser sends to the site and may incorrectly change size at times.
But there are 3 styles now and you can change this in the user control panel, under board preferences, and you can change them picking my board style.
Here are the 3 styles:
Prosilver (board default):
Subsilver (has smaller margins and also has the old menu picks):
Acidtech (Dark theme):

Re: Website upgrade
I know I'm asking someone to potentially do a lot of work. Is it possible to fill the sides with special events, special pictures, and such. Perhaps we could thank those vendors that have been loyal to us by thanking them at the top or on the sides. I'm not necessarily talking paid ads. Just a business card size thing. Perhaps telling of a new product they have.
I'm just trying to think of something to appeal to lurkers or old members. Maybe it would induce them to come out.
