I did a "walk-around" at my local Cabela's (Gonzales, LA) this morning. I was looking for any of my usuals they might have had- bullets, primers, etc. Everything was VERY picked over - only primers in the store were large rifle and large pistol, none of the standard weight 53-60 grain .224 bullets (except Barnes). They did have some of the popular powders (H4831, H4895, 2400, 5744), but not in quantity. They did have loaded ammo in the popular calibers, but had a quantity limit in effect. No shortage of shotgun shells ! The gun counter was buzzing - you had to take a number and wait to be waited on. I am in need of some .224 55 grain bullets, (I have been using Hornady 55 gr. SP w/cannelure) in my 22 Hornet and my Mini 14). As I already assumed - there are NONE out there ! I am OK with everything else I normally use. I am sure the stores and the manufacturers are loving this ! I may go back tomorrow and buy a H&R Pardner Tactical 12 gauge shotgun that was on sale ($199). At least then I can play - UP CLOSE !

I went looking for some bulk cast .44 (.430) cal bullets here in ohio. NOTHING. My local dealer had literally no cast bullets in any caliber (normally stocks 300-500 for any given caliber). Also no powder, no primers, no presses. Good Lord.
Also they wont accept orders for anything grr.
I don't understand what people are freaking out about. Why hoard powder and bullets?
This might be a tough season.
BTW I did just order some stuff from Montana Bullet Works. Nice guy.

My local Cabela's (Gonzales, LA.) received some CCI-400 small rifle primers and some CCI-500 small pistol primers. Limit 2 (1000 per box) per customer. They also received some powder (limit 2 1 lb. containers). Was able to buy 2000 CCI-400 and 2 lbs. of 748 yesterday. Went back today and all of the rifle primers were gone, and almost all of the small pistol primers were gone. I was able to buy 2 cartons of small pistol. At least I can load .223's without dipping into my silhouette supplies, and can load some 40 S&W.
