while talking with my father today we got on the topic of cleaning after shooting, myself i will run a appropriate size brush through if i do anything between matches during the year,if the barrel is going to sit for any extended period(more than 1 month) i will clean with solvent and patches and a lite oil patch,my father said i should clean completely and use oil each time which would require a fouling or cleaning shot before a match for consistant first shot
i guess my question is what is your regiment for cleaning after a macth, after range work and if having oiled the bore what is your procedure before a match

I pretty much follow the rule "don't clean until accuracy drops". I've even let guns set without cleaning over the 'off season".
I'm sure this topic will be 'all over the place' in responses. Everybody cleans according to how they were 'taught' to do it or however they've decided is best for them.

I pull a "dry" bore snake through the bore about two times before taking the guns to the next match. Guess that goes against all the purists but my barrels don't lead with cast bullets and don't get a bunch of copper fouling so maybe I am just more lucky than smart. Anyway, my 260 Striker keeps on knocking down all the targets. Well maybe not all the shoot off targets!!!!

My Tenders 7-30 & 7TCU like clean barrels I get about 60-80 shots and I can see accuracy start dropping off. I'm gona give my new to me Striker a go at it with cast and from what I'm seeing it does better with a few shots down the tube ( like 20)

I run a dry bore snake through when I finnish shooting while the barrel is still warm. When the season is over a good cleaning and light oil for storage until next season.
