Well, I'm going to give revolver class a try this year with my Ruger SBH in 44mag.I would like to keep things in the mid power range if possible as loading goes and go to higher stuff for rams if needed.anyone using mid-power loads up to 150m.with any success? If so, any recommendations on loading? I know my mileage will very,just looking for info.My cast bullets range from 200gr to 310gr.
Bullet molds I have
Lee 200gr rf
Lee 214gr swc
Lee 310gr rf
RCBS 240gr sil
RCBS 240gr swc
Lyman 300gr swc
My first load work up,I plan on using the RCBS 240gr sil with undecided powder right now

Bob, I use the 240 RCBS silhouette bullet over 23.0 grains of W296 in my SBH. This is more than a mid-range load but has been very accurate in my Ruger and two Virginian Dragoon silhouette revolvers. I have also used a 225 grain cast bullet with the same powder charge and it was also very accurate. Can't remember which mould I used to cast that bullet. Think it was a Lyman. Revolvers are fun. Had cataract surgery last October and can see iron sights again so plan to get out my revolvers this year.

I have used my T/C 10'' in 44mag in production for many years and used 296 with good results. Just rambling thoughts in my head right now.Ed Harris had some good mid range loads in the Cast Bullet Assoc news letter called the Fouling Shot and he uses Bullseye with a 245gr cast bullet.I will try Bullseye and 231 along with 296

My sbh seems to like it a little hot as well. My fab load is 250gr Sierra sil with 23.5gr h110 (same as 296)
This is a heavy recoiling load tho.
Lil gun also seems good but I don't have an exact load for that

I too had excellent results with h110 with 23 grains. Due to a shortage of magnum primers I switched to 20 gr of 2400 and get excellent accuracy. It also has noticeably less recoil.

I've been shooting a FA 44 for a couple yrz now using the RCBS 245 SWC bullit. I only use picked up range lead 2 cast with. My load iz 8.5 gr of Unique, and it comes outta
the FA just under 1100 fps. I only remember leaving 1 or 2 rams, and that wazz on the same day with a nice wind holding them up from the rear. Good luck.
