Big congrats to my brother Charlie Braud ! He won the Region 2 Big Bore UAS Championship, using a XP100 in 7 TCU with CAST BULLETS !! 60x60 plus 8x10 shoot-offs ! He sounded excited ! I am sure that he can fill-in the details whenever he gets home from South Carolina !!

Thanks for all the kind words. It has been a long tough road to get that gun to shoot cast. It would take several pages to describe the entire process I use to load that ammo but here is the short version.

I use the RCBS 145 and an alloy of 18BH sized .2865", Hornady checks, Felix lube, the nose is sized .277" so it becomes a bore rider, custom M die expander for the larger size body, Fed brass, CCI 400, 23 gr 2015, bullet seated with only the check and half the first drive band in the case.

I used the same gun and load on Half Scale and missed just 2 turkeys......58X60. :(( :(( :D

Charlie - Thanks for the load info. The RCBS 145 and even the 168 moulds are usually very accurate. I nosed sized my bullets too and that really helps when seating bullets out into the bore. Sounds like a long trip to find the right combination but that is half the fun of making your own bullets. Keep on getting the perfect scores. That half size entry was pretty darn good too. Don't you just hate it when turkeys squat just when you shoot at them!!!!!

The turkeys are the toughest. Half Scale with cast bullets is new to me and this gun. Only the second score I've fired with this combo. I owe a huge debt to my spotter, my wife Carolyn. Both missed turkeys were in the first bank. My windage was off just a touch. Once she had me straight I was good to go.

As proud as I am of all this, I think it all pales in comparison to the score Richard Pickering shot in Unlimited. He scored a 58X60 with cast bullets........with iron sights. :ymapplause:
