We had a heck of a turnout for our last IHMSA Match of 2013. Lots of shooters…a LOT of 22 rifle shooters for sure, and a lot of great scores. A large number of new shooters were able to shoot with us this time, and I hope that they will continue with us. With Jay’s continuing promotion of silhouette shooting, we seem to be drawing record crowds to the matches. I hope that this will continue.
There were a lot of excellent scores for this match….seems that .22 UAS is really getting heated up, along with Big Bore UAS. Good thing we had the shootoffs in place.
Black sand was added to the .22 berms several weeks ago, and we were able to get back to using white targets again. The experiment of painting all targets white, big bore and .22’s, has been a success, and we will continue with the white paint in the future. We’re able to shoot earlier in the day, the scope shooters are able to find their crosshairs again, and the darker days of summer does not render the targets invisible. Seems to work for everyone.
We had a lot of help for this match and over the entire season of shooting. This is much appreciated!! This year has seen the addition of all new targets, white paint, and a larger crowd of shooters. Everyone has pulled together and helped get this program back up and running…and for this a big “Thank-You” is in order. Without the shooters coming and helping, shooting, setting targets up and tearing down afterwards it would be a tough job.
Targets have been put away for the season…some will be repaired by Jay…others have simply been put in the boxes for the season. I hope that everyone enjoyed the season….and if anyone has any comments, good or bad, or improvements that they see, please feel free to contact me at any time. catsfarm@ymail.com or 319-572-1277
That’s all I have at the present time….first IHMSA silhouette match for 2014 will be on the second Sunday in April. Hope you’ll be able to attend.
