a friend ask me if he could shoot an ar15 pistol. next will he have to use a 5 rd mag. or can he use a 20 rd mag. with only 5 rds in it ? can he hold the mag while shooting flop since it is part of the gun ? he just wants to play with something different. he likes to have fun. if he shoots seriously he can shoot 40's all the time.
he also has a hi standard 15" 22lr he shoots in the flop. he has added a fore arm out of hollow alum. stoch to rase up the gun for easer to shoot in the flop. it is only 6" long and his hand is under it. he is not using it as a vertical grip. it is too long for that. is that ok ? he is not an IHMSA member , he just likes to shoot.

As long as his AR15 pistol does not damage targets he is good to shoot at my range! I see no problem with the High Standard either.

Here's my take on this as it applies to this particular shooter. He is not an IHMSA member and his entry won't count for score or record......so what difference do any of the rules make as far as he is concerned. Like Steve said, as long as his ammo does not damage targets, I'd let him shoot.......as long as he understands it's only for fun, not an official entry. Maybe doing so will convince him to "come on over" and become a member.

Our son built an AR pistol in 300 Blackout. It met IHMSA rules in all respect. I shot it Creedmoor and had no problems hitting targets. He was still having ejection problems or I would be shooting it at Jackson this spring. When he gets back hopefully he can work out the bugs and loan it to me to shoot a match or two.
