This thread has nothing to do with:
Should they stop having the World championship, what should they call it or who is entitled to go
For that doom and gloom head to the Range Rambling it’s full of it!

What this Thread has to do with is I’m headed to my 1st. INT. or World Championship
And I’m very excided ! I know it no big deal to you that have gone every years dating back to 1979
Or the ones that have gone to most or even the ones that have never /will never go
But to me it is a big deal. Not because I’m thinking I might win World Championship or even win my class for that matter. Winning anything has zero to do with it. It’s all about been there done that got the Tee shirt “Bucket list” stuff. A chance to meet some of the Legends of the game, (met a few @ the WCC last year) and some of you here.
What this thread is about is people sharing positive inputs on their plans for this year’s big dance
So feel free to interact with your day to day plans.

What this thread has to do with telling me the do’s and don’ts of shooting @ this match
Walk me thought what I need to do my 1st. day I’ve never shot at a match that you had to have your gun checked. When do you do that? When do you get your score cards? Who do you get to witness your score? Sorry but not interested in what you did in 79 I’m sure things have changed more interested The last couple years mostly how they did things the last time @ OKC (2012) any tips to make things go smoothly.

What this thread has to do with is meeting some of you that I don’t know that I will meet there
Right now I think there are only 3 people that I have spent time with that are going Joe, the other Joe and Wheelgun plus Nutcase and other I somewhat met @ the WCC

In 18 days some of you will be there shooting, In 18 days I will start heading that way

OKC has a great Western art museum that I highly recommend if you can work it into your plans. Have a great time & be sure to attend the annual meeting and get your club to give you a delegate's letter so you can vote!

This will also be my first World championships But I have been to 9 NRA national championships.

It will be a new experience for me also.

Now I am off to the range to test my revolvers. broke a spring during the WCC

I have a 3 day drive, so I am taking off in 15 days!

The delegates letter has been dispensed with. If you are a member and you show up, you can vote.
Richard, you can check your gun in at the range house any time before your entry on the day you are going to shoot it. It is a quick and simple process. They will weigh it, check the trigger for safety and apply a sticker to the gun and then sign your card. Please fill out your card with gun, caliber, category and class before you go up to get it checked. After you get it checked and when you go to the line for sighters, find a line officer to sign you onto the line. Then after your entry you will need to get the gun signed off the line and the line officer will keep your card at that point.
Initials are gathered for each bank of targets. At the Internationals, you will need 2 witnesses per bank, one may be your spotter. The usual technique is to draw a diagonal line through each witness box to divide it into half then the 2 witnesses will initial for each bank. The person next to you will gladly trade you their initials for yours. Take a quick glance to make sure they did indeed hit all the targets they claim. IHMSA people are very honest but mistakes do happen when filling out the cards.
If you do not have a spotter this may be a little hectic for the first few banks.
I do not think they have carpets at OKC so it would not hurt to bring your own or a mat or pad. They also do not have benches or tables for standing shooters. So a portable table like a TV tray (or slightly larger) is a huge help, so you have something to set your shooting box on. Please feel free to call me if you have any other questions.

Richard, There used to be a well known western clothing store called Shepplers (sp?) that is worth going to. You have to buy a big belt buckle to shoot in OK!!!! You have the right attitude, have fun. It gets a little busy trying to get two initials after each bank sometimes especially with the auto-reset targets. Trying to talk to your spotter about hits or just gathering you thoughts and preparing for the next five shots and then initialing for the shooter next to you can keep you hopping. Hope you can find a spotter to help. You will enjoy yourself!!!!!

good tip on the mat and table I had been trying to find pictures Of the 2012 shoot to look for that very thing
but was not sure if the pictures I found (link here) were of OKC or Stockton
My plan is to get there noon Saturday and Spend the rest of the day watch and learning how the flow goes.
Then I start shooting on Sunday
Shooting 2 guns per day I requested shooting times 9:00 and 2:30 each day not sure what I will get
Bear with me on this in my 3 years of shooting I have total of 74 entrees (one of the Joe’s shoots that many in a month LOL) so I’m still kinda green
I’ll will be a little lean on the spotter help but maybe I can find a “score card manager/witness”

I plan on leaving around 4:00 am on the 19th (sat). about a 10hr drive so I should be there around 2:00pm if ms Sheila does not have to make many pit stops. see everyone soon. allen

I'm guessing you and I will be stuck at the range a lot (which isn't a bad place to be!), but I know Pam and Meghan already has a list of places to take Patti while we're shooting--and they told me I have to put the back seat in the Escalade for the trip, so maybe they are planning on others joining them as well! Bottom line, it is no different than any other shoot. I was intimidated by stories I had heard when I went to my first World Championship in 2011. Turned out, it is just the same great people and same fun you will find anywhere, just more of it. People aren't anal about weird stuff, if you make a mistake, someone will politely help you out and point you in the right direction. Especially in Oklahoma, it is just like the WCC only hotter and more humid. Just put the sights on the target and squeeze the trigger.

Your right I always prepare for the worse and then normally it's not that bad. I do hear their a extra nice bunch and I figure they will let me shoot someone else's targets twice before they ask me to leave

Those that are going what you shooting
My Day one Gun
I start shooting Sunday with 2 guns scheduled FS U in the morning and SB U in the afternoon
I flip flopped a couple of times on which to shoot 1st. the FS or SB and with no real reason I went with FS 1st.
The Gun of choice for this is my Exemplar Peep on Peep. I bought this gun a couple years ago from one of the Region II greats. With no sights and original wood stock, The wood stock never really fit me but I hate to modify it I ran across this factory plastic stock that had been modify and it work much better. I added the Williams rear Peep and I machined a front sight that would accept one of Steve Martens clear peep disk and that would meet the sight radius rule. I had tried one of the clear disk on a couple of standing guns but never felt comfortable with it But decided to give it a try on this gun mainly because the plan was to use it for both FS U and SB U thinking using the center hold with the peep compared to the 6 o’clock hold of a post I could somewhat use the same sight settings for both and it has somewhat works out. Last year I shot the gun as is in UAS FS UAS U and FS U I really think using the same gun for multiple disciplines has helped my learning curve.
This gun has moved me up to “AAA” in SB U with a couple 38’s and “AA”+ in FS U with a 34
I think down the road It might just pull a 40 out of the hat. ;)

Ok, first... any gun can break a spring right at the wrong time

and in the afternoon I might be able to spot. I forgot.. My spotter has my shooting times so I have no idea what I am shooting and what time

Why don't we just pass up the 40 and get you an 80
