Hvy. bullet load for .222 wanted

Anyone have any hvy. bullet loads for the .222 Rem. willing to share? Looking for some for the 69-75 grain bullets in a 1-8 or 1-7 twist.

I obtained some shooting records from the late Larry Harris who was a well known shooter here in OH. He had Rampro build him a pistol with a Krieger 1-8" twist barrel and used CCI 400 primers, 20.0 grains of AA2105 BR powder and 80 grain Sierra Matchking bullets. Larry shot several perfect scores and many close to perfect 1/2 scale scores with this combination. He indicated he was getting 2405 FPS with a standard deviation of 10 with this load in his gun. He indicated he was loading the rounds .008" off the lands for a total overall length of 2.331" I spotted a big bore entry for Larry with this gun and he was clean going into the rams. He hit ram number 1 dead center but it did not fall. He then told me he was going to shoot the rest of the rams in the top of the horn, which he did, and ended up with a 39. This was with open sights!!! Larry was a remarkable shooter. This load was completely safe in Larry's gun and may not be suitable for other guns so please work up loads that are safe in your gun.

I would to thank you for the information. This will really give me a place to start and also knowing some else has had the same idea. I have been reloading over 40 yrs. and have shot NBRSA also. Yes, you really need to work your loads up slowly and use the data just as a guide. Dropping the loads down and working up.

Lousy typing on my part. Powder used was AA2015 NOT AA2105 but I'm sure you knew that. Sorry for the typo.

If no other data comes your way, I would call Sierra and ask them, if they don't have any heavy {69& 77} data for a 222, ask for their "service rifle" data. They will send you their loads for an AR in 223. They list 16 different powders with their 69 SMK & 12 for their 77 SMK bullets, so you may have one of those on hand, their lowest loads should be a starting point.
Hornady has a Service Rifle mini manual that lists loads for all three service rifles. They only list data for their 68 & 75 gn. BTHP's. 9 powders for the 68 and 11 powders for their 75 BTHP.
