I don't know how I missed this post. I would go the cheapest route possible. Set up some railroad ties or even some treated 4x4's or 6x6's with dirt piled in front of them and get a set of free standing targets to set up,like these

. I have a set of 40 targets but no place to set em up. To bad we don't live near each other. :ymsmug:

We started out in 1980 with an open field, just 5 targets for each animal and sheets of plywood to lay on. Matches were slower then since you had to reset after 5 shots and we thought we were in hog heaven when we went to 10 targets. Start out like David suggests to keep your expenses low. Once you get people hooked, and you will, then you can make improvements as needed. We made 22 and FP reset targets using long ropes to make target setting easier but that was mostly us old geezers getting lazy to go down range. Some improvements are gotta haves and some are nice to haves. Main thing is to let people know you are having matches and get the locals to come out and support your matches. Advertise in any free local papers and in the IHMSA News. New matches are a breath of fress air for our sport. Good luck in you endeavors and by all means have fun at the matches.
