To All: If you are or were planning on sending your 4X or 2.5X - 8X handgun scope in for new target turrets installed be prepared to be in for a big surprise on the cost. I sent one in to have this done and they increased the price from $120.00 for both turrets to $225.00 for the pair, nearly double the price. I for one will not send in another to have this done.

Wow! That seems a little excessive. What price are just the turrets themselves? Or will they not sell them that way?

How reliable are the Stoney Point knobs? I know they won't be clicks on the old scopes, but are they serviceable?

Would it not depend on whether the click "mechanism" is internal or external? If it is internal then a knob is a knob provided it has been clearly and accurately graduated. I have no first hand knowledge of the scope(s) in question so please correct me if I'm on the wrong road.

Stoney Point knobs do not click, unless the original elevation/windage adjustments had clicks. They are merely a turret, I know several people that have used them successfully.

The Stoney Point knob works fairly well on my Leupold elevation turrent. There is some slop between the SP and the Leupy groove so I always make my elevation adjustments starting low then move the SP up until I reach my next setting. That way the slack between the two knobs is always consistent. Once I move to my next setting I jiggle the SP lightly back and forth to make sure the line in centered on my next mark. This seems to ensure my next mark is well centered with the SP knob.

a lot of the Leupold scopes are friction adjustments. You have to read the dial when adjusting. Not something too useful if in a quick running tactical match, but good for silo.

stoney points only work on scopes with a coin slot on the adjustment screws.

the set I have for bushnell scopes work perfectly. But the one I have on a Burris scope keeps binding up.
