Does anyone know what the thread sizes are on the Anschutz Exemplar for mounting the iron sights. There are three holes for the rear sight, two of which appear to be the same and the middle one is slightly larger. There are two even smaller holes for mounting front sight. My metric tap set doesn't go this small. Thanks!

The only way I have installed the rear sight is to mount a rear bridge adapter then mount a flat base Bomar to the bridge. You talking about the factory sight? The big screw hole is used to attach the bridge to the receiver.

IIRC, the front sight screw is a standard metric 3mmx.5mm pitch. I bought some cheese head screws at the hardware store a year ago and shortened them to suit. As for the rear, I'd have to pull one apart, as they're every one covered up right now.

Yes, you and I had a back-and-forth on the subject. How did your foray into peeps work out? For my air pistols I wound up making front discs with no aperture hole. While I still have the discs on the lathe I just barely kiss them with a very tiny center drill then filled the spot with black. OKC's air pistol targets are white so the tiny black dot works great.
This is most likely no secret, but I've had the most luck with peeps by getting my eye as close as possible to the rear aperture.

Thanks for the help! The front mounting screws are indeed M3-.50. The rear center hole is M4-.70, when I got into the right lighting and my bifocals adjusted I could tell the two outer holes were not threaded. Now to get my peep on peep mounted....yah!

Pretty well. The biggest problem has been shooting the correct target. (On more than one occasion I've either shot the sighter or. less often, the animal to the right of the one intended.) Have since gotten rid of the front peep cross bar for a floating variable size aperture and swapped the too fine Anschutz sight out for a Palma. If we try fifth scale again, an Anschutz rear sight will probably have to go back on, but likely it will be a newer unit than the ancient thing we were using which doesn't have a functioning coarse setting, so it was too easy to be a turn off. In actual fact I'm not shooting it much, currently, except for testing purposes, but it IS being used in matches regularly....I think Lisa will have her first 40 soon.

Actually it is neither. I make my own discs and apply a very tiny dot in the center. Works well for me.

SSSSSSH, don't tell anyone you are making your own front insert or it won't be Production legal anymore. According to our current rules you will have modified your sights. Now me, I don't think your homemade disk is a big deal but at the Internationals that would not be allowed. And I am NOT even trying to be a rule Nazi.
