Freedom Arms Revolver Trigger Pull

I've been looking at the specs for the Freedom Arms Silhouette Model revolvers, and the factory says that 3 pounds is the best they can do on trigger pull weight! For me, this is much too heavy for a competition gun, especially for one that costs $2000.

Can the trigger pull be safely lowered on these guns? My Dan Wesson factory trigger job breaks at about 1.5 pounds.

Comments?

freedom arms will not ship a gun with less than a 3lb. trigger because of liability issues. they can be safely tuned down to around 6oz. from a good gunsmith that knows what he is doing. i did the trigger on my fa 44 ,22, and 357 myself. they run around 12 oz. they are easy to do if you know what your doing. allen

Allen,

Thanks for the response.

Are there instructions on the DIY trigger job available online?

Mike

Hi . first time poster here.
I was searching for some info on doing some trigger work on my mod 83 FA when i came across this thread (wish we had the internet back when i started shooting Silhouette !!!!!)

Wondering if i could get some info on someone who can do some trigger work , or get some info on doing it myself?

From what i read , sending it back to FA would be kind of pricey ,and wouldn't get me what i want anyway.

I am not a stanger to working on guns , been working on my own for 40 yrs or so, but i don't like to go at something blindly .

I'm not looking for a 8-12 oz. trigger pull , or anything that light .

Looking to get something in the 2- 2 1/2 lb range (trigger is a "crisp"??? 4 1/2 lbs now)

thanks

Joe

New guy here , found this site while searching for some info on trigger work for a mod 83 FA revolver (we didn't even have the "internet" last time i belonged to IHMSA and shot Silhouette :ymblushing: :ymblushing: :ymblushing: )

Wondering if you might be able to help me out with some info on getting some work done to it , (or doing someting myself , been working with firearms for 40 yrs,.)

I'm NOT looking for an 8-12 oz. pull , something less than the 4 lb that is on it now

Maybe in the 2 - 2 1/2 lb range.

thanks

Joe

You can thank some dork that sued Freedom Arms after shooting himself in the leg pulling his gun out of the holster--and believe it or not, WON the case! Nothing about that made sense to me--especially since the model 83 is single action.
