Design Source for Air Gun Target Stands

When I began shooting metallic silhouette in 1984, I never expected to own an Indoor Shooting Range. Ten years have passed since Best Shot Range has become a part of my local community. Most Patrons that visit BSR do not engage in "precision" shooting - I call it "pie plate" accuracy. My rifle range has 4 lanes with a max distance of 25 yards. I've been teaching Youth Camps for ten years where kids learn to shoot rifles with aperture sights - many are able to shoot 81mg aspirin with some focused training and practice. I'm thinking it's time to develop Air Gun Silhouette on the rifle range during "off" hours. I'd like to fabricate some quality target stands on wheels that I can move on and off the range. Ideally, they would be resettable targets. Since the rifle range is only about 20 feet wide, I'd like to have multiple rows of 5 targets on each stand. I'm not sure if I should have only 4 stands, 1 at each distance and shooters would have to cycle through the course of fire. Or, if there's a way to have 16 stands that are various heights to allow for all 4 lanes to have targets at each distance. I'm guessing/hoping the IHMSA community Air Pistol shooters have seen enough ranges (and target stands) that could suggest the Best design for this type of range. If I can get some plans or ideas, I have a local source that can do the necessary fabrication. Or, if there are some stands and targets for sale, please pass along their contact info. Many thanks for y'alls help.

You need to talk to Jim Fields. He's the match director in Oklahoma City. They have roll around sets of the targets. There are actually two banks on each one. He maybe can supply you with plans, pictures or ideas on how to build.

With only 20 feet width, I suggest you post a Want to Buy in our classifieds section. Our club has exactly what you need, a set of string resets of 5 targets made in Texas by Mike Stimson. I don't think he makes them any more, perhaps there is a set out there you can buy or a design you can copy. There are also reset makers that sometimes advertise on the Steel Chickens forum. It is mostly a NRA rifle silo sight, but I recall seeing targets for sale there. They shoot the same size air targets as we do, but at 20-45 yards I think.

You can probably use or modify the air gun biathlon target that Pyramid Air sells. The linkage is all complete, you would have to modify or replace the original face plate with one cut out for chickens, pigs, etc. Personally, it's worth buying one just to have the linkage pattern, and the biathlon style target is a lot of fun. I think the factory holes are about the size of the turkey body (no leg, head, or tip of tail). They are small and portable, and probably easier to buy than to make.
