I want to build a gun for the unlimited any sight class on a budget. I already own an encore frame, so the barrel will tbe the main expense. I want it in 7mmBr and am leaning towards a 12 inch length in a straight bull profile. The loss of sight radius wont be an issue since the gun will be scoped. I am thinking the short stiff barrel may be more inherrently accurate. Is this a good assumption, or go with a slimmer profile and 14 inch length.?

I do not have the answer to your question, but the shorter barrel will mean that you have 2 inches less barrel in which to burn powder which could cause some loss of burning efficiency.

Any comments on the hinge pin lockers,do they help tighten the action and improve accuracy?

I had great success with a Shilen SS match grade barrel (15" taper) in 7mm International. Old school, but it worked for me way back when. My eyes could keep 5 rounds in a 2" group on the rams - then. Now? Maybe 2 foot.

I decided to go with the 14 inch barrel. I did stick with the 7mmbr. I did manage to locate some brass at Midway. E A Brown is building the barrel. I have a ten inch Encore in 7TC. I shot back in the 80's and want to try again with a anysight gun since my eyes ain't what they used to be. Any tips would be appreciated. I am sitting home nursing a knee replacement.
