i spoke to Mr Edney and asked if i might join the forum for just a bit.

i have a Contender IHMSA commemorative frame. I bought it to go along with a cpl stainless barrels i had "OCD". Anyway I hope maybe some of you could assist, and i hope the pics attachment went fine so you all can see. In making several phone calls and hours of google searches i have found very little about this frame and was hoping some might now the history

i have spoken the the Davis Gun museum in claremore ok.
the Cody Museum in Wyoming
the NRA fire arms museum in springfield Mo.
I have spoke to Ed Kilpatrick in OKC "this man is a amazing contender resource.
i have spoken the Mr Steve Jones, One of the officers in Texas.

i have heard a cpl times well i have heard of them but never seen one.

im trying to find out how many were made and what year "im assuming around 1986" and any history thats out there.

Were they sold on the open market or were they used for top prizes at a regional or national event ??

any solid information you all could tell me would be greatly appreciated

OK, time to start on this.

That is the IHMSA commemorative 10th year anniversary edition. They were only sold through IHMSA and not through normal channels.

Next. These are not stainless steel but have the Armour alloy finish. They were sold with a 7TCU barrel with the TC 'Ultimate' sight. by the pic, It does not have the original barrel on it. The Ultimate sight had a thumbwheel for adjusting elevation.

Only 200 were made and almost all of them sold in 1986 . you can tell by the serial number which one it is. the serial number will have a 10-xxx The 10 for tenth anniversary and the last 3 digits for the number (I.e. 10-100 would be 100th frame made). and would say IHMSA under the serial number.

The pic I posted is from the original add in 1986, It shows the sight these came with.

thank you very much that was the info i was looking for. and yes the 7mm/tcu does have a rear sight like you described. the pics shows a 22 wmrf barrel i shoot a bit.

and my serial number does follow the 10.xxx pattern.
