TUSCO is a great place to shoot & the Tres Banditos match in the fall is a "must do" for any Midwesterner!

Several years ago at the annual meeting, the board, (or someone) was discussing and singing the Praises of moving the Internationals from Oak Ridge to Tusco.
I asked if this was going to turn into another Oak Ridge. "Oh, no. This is such a good deal, we will not have another Oak Ridge. "We'll be there for a long time."

Now what??????????? I haven't seen a reason put forth for moving to Okla City. Any board members or IHMSA officials have an explanation?

I also heard the Internationals would rotate between Ft. Stockton, OK and Tusco but haven't heard anything about that either. I think this year would have been Tusco but glad to hear that OK is up to the challenge. There is a story about the Ints and Tusco but I don't think the people that know the whole story are willing or allowed to explain. Another great mystery for the rest of us club members. Can anyone comment about Tusco being in a rotation for the Ints?

I can comment. The Internationals have been at Tusco five times over a ten year period. It was never promoted as a permanent thing.
Clyde, Ive got two marriages that didn't last as long as the Internationals were at Tusco.

The original contract was for a ten year period which is a lifetime in range volunteers. The volunteer group at Tusco fulfilled the terms that were originally agreed to and we are all older and some have moved on, died, quit etc.

I would never expect an Internationals to be held at any range more than 3 or 4 times. The situation at Ft. Stockton is an anamoly because you have the local tax dollars paying for the maintenance and the workers. You can't find that anywhere else in the world.

At Oakridge the volunteer base was so burned out and thin, that IHMSA was actually kicked out and the targets were thrown in a pile and almost confiscated (by the Oakridge range for non-performance of duties). The volunteers at Tusco actually drove down to Oakridge and saved a valuable asset belonging to IHMSA. Then spent approx 5,000 hours building a range to hold 5 Internationals. That was done and its over. The targets that are going to be shot on this year at Oklahoma are some of those same targets they we rescued from Oakridge.

The above statements are true and factual because I was one of those individuals.

I shot all the Int. at Tusco, and they were great. I appreciate all the work you guys put in for us.
What will become of the remainder of the IHMSA auto rest targets at Tusco?? How many banks are left?

Jim - Thanks for the info. You and all the others at Tusco can be proud of the matches the club hosted, all the Internationals and other matches. Anyone who has ever shot at Tusco enjoyed themselves and continue to do so even today. I have only heard good things about Tusco and enjoyed the matches I have attended there. It is a credit to that club that so many people want to have the Ints there again. I really understand the burnout comment since I have seen all the work that went into the Ints and how the club runs their monthly matches. You were/are a big part of that and we all thank Tusco for the memories.

there are three banks of big Borland one half size. We shoot our monthly matches on them. There is one set of field pistol and two small bore. Don't know if there are any future plans for them or not.

It would be nice if somebody on the east coast had an International match. Anybody who can put up three banks of big bore could host an International .
