Bought this gun and wanted to mount a scope on it and use it for the fun shoots on the rifle silhouette range. I cannot find a set of mounts any where. No manufactue I see list any, Wichita says they never offered a mount no can they tell me who does. Do any of you know what mount can be used on a wichita Silhouette Pistol with the grey center grip stock?

Are you talking the bolt action pistol or break barrel?

I will venture that Bob Doherty in Kansas will be able to assist you. Try 913 294 4476 I met him at OKC this year. Richard

I called a friend who shoots a bolt action Wichita and asked him where he got his scope mounts. He told me he bought them from Wichita for $80. You should be able to get them. Call Bob as Richard suggested.

I have the MK40 (love it) and was told by Wichita there are no mounts for that model. The regular Wichita bolt gun must have a different contour receiver so don't know about that model. I was going to find some Weaver bases with the same contour and drill holes as needed. You can even get Weaver blanks from Brownells and make your own. Mine shoots so good with iron sights and cast bullets I plan to leave it alone. Great guns so good luck with your project.

Long story, so I'll not tell it and be reasonably brief.

Wichita has no idea how to mount a scope on their own bolt pistols. They've long ago lost the specs or for unknown reasons choose to ignore the spacing of the holes drilled and tapped into their receivers. I've tried to get scope mounts from them and gotten nothing but frustration, parts that didn't fit, delays waiting for new parts, and eventually the parts that didn't fit returned to me in horribly marred condition with all new, extra holes drilled in all the wrong places. Forget trying to get a scope base from Wichita.

I suggest you get a Davidson blank base and have a local 'smith contour and drill it. Then use some Kelbly rings and you'll have a slick setup.

For blank bases, look for part numbers DKB11, 12, and 13 here: http://www.sinclairintl.com/optics/ring ... 1zzVarmint

Thank You all for all the info.

This morning I heard that an old friend and silhouette shooter passed. Ray Townsend of Sierra Vista AZ. Ray and I started shooting Silhouette in Tombstone in about 1973. We shot alot of Rifle Silhouette in Tombstone, Tucson, Phoenix, New Mexico and a couple to matches in Mexico. During the first Pistol Silhouette Match in Tucson we were shooting a hunter silhouette match in Tombstone. We started shooting Pistol Silhouette in Tucson soon after and it was not long before we built the Pistol Silhouette Range in Tombstone and were regulars at Tombstone and Tucson. Shot a few matches in Phoenix also. I left Sierra Vista in 79 but did get to shoot with him a few times nover the years. Ray was a regular at Tombstone and the SV Gun Club. I am sure Major Golden and the many other shooters who shot Silhouette and Practical for many years with Ray will miss him. He was a great guy and a heck of a shooter.

I am using the davidson bases for the Hall 'S' action (sinclair used to list the wichita for the below base) and they are almost a perfect fit on my wichita silhouette pistol. part# DKB2

http://www.sinclairintl.com/optics/ring ... avs|Action Fit_1=Hall S

note: wichita's have the same hole spacing as a remington XP100 or 700. they just have a different diameter on the action.

and, do not get sticker shot when you see the price of the rings (they are expensive)

included a picture of mine (and yes, that is a King tube mounted on it)

No, they changed spacing at one point during production. The problem is that they don't know exactly when (at what serial #) they changed hole spacing and they don't know what it was before they changed it. Thus, if you have an early action they'll pretend they know what they're doing, charge you an outrageous sum for a scope base, send you the wrong parts, and then give you nothing but grief until you just give up in frustration.

There are better options and I'm glad to see you found one since *anything* is better than trying to deal with Wichita on this issue.
