Buddy of mine picked up an old XP that was built back in the early 80's in 30X47...case is based on the 222 mag, NOT the 300 savage or .308. Anyone have any loading data for it??

Thanks Steve! I did find that particular discussion yesterday, BUT they are discussing a 30X47 that is based on the 300 savage or 308. I need data for one that is based on a 222 mag case. Volume ditates that powder will be between 22-29 grains. It very similar in volume to the 7TCU.

Alvin, Just got done running a red neck cartridge comparison that may give you some starting loads. I took a formed 30 Herrett case and loaded it to the base of the neck with W296 and came up with 31.0 grains. I then poured that charge into a new, unfired 222 Rem Mag case and it came just up the neck a small amount. I dumped out the powder until it was to the base of the neck of the 222 Mag case and there was only a 1 grain difference. I think a 30X47 case would even be blown out with less taper and would almost guess the capacity would match a 30 Herrett case. I think that starting loads for a 30 Herrett would get you in the ball park and not stress an XP any. Now most load manuals for 30 Herrett favor pistol powders but I have used H322 in a Herrett with 150 grain bullets and found that powder to be very accurate. Don't know if this helps any but at least food for thought. Sounds like a good cartridge once you get it figured out.
