Handgun Scopes

Post by kerdunk »

Is there any handgun scope on the market today that 1. Focuses down to 25 yds 2. Has EFR of 24 in min and 3. Is 6x or less?

I would like to shoot Smallbore PH with something other than a red dot or iron sights from the Creedmoor or Dead Frog position.

The Leupold 2.5x8 pistol scope hits your first 2 and on PH isnt it the honor system on how far you crank the magnification?

Only downside is I heard a rumor they were going to quit making that scope. Hope its just a rumor. I do know you can no longer send it back for the tall turret knobs as they have abandoned the custom jobs.

Jim,

It is not a rumor, Leupold has already discontinued ALL pistol scopes.

Now, on The original post,

First, Remember the rules for PH do allow a variable scope over 6x to be used, But you have to shoot the course at 6x or lower

Now, The leupold 2.5-8x scope was the best you could get, but it has been discontinued.

The Burris scopes are the next best, But they have a fatal flaw. the higher the power you go, The eye relief drops FAST. The 2-7X will have about 18" at 2x, they drop down to around 9" at 7X.

For Eye Relief, The Weaver 2-6x32mm has the longest eye relief of all at 20", But not the clearest optics. This scope is actually the old Bushnell trophy scope. When Vista Outdoors bought up Weaver, They discontinued all the older scopes and the Weaver scopes now are discontinued bushnell scopes. You can only get these from Natchez shooter supply.

I have a BSA Edge 2-7x32mm scope I have not played with yet. This is a cheap scope and I will let you know how it is when I finally try it.

I also called Leipold last summer inquiring about the EER 2.5x8 and was told they were discontinued.
Like Jim said the custom shop that used to install the target knobs are now working on government projects, if and when it ever reopen is unknown according to staff.
