Production and replacement sights?

I'm looking for info on the TC Contender here. Are the aftermarket sight ribs, such as Ken Light and the one from E. Arthur Brown, legal for production class? Are the TC Competition Target sights allowed?

Those sights are legal for Production. ANY sight that can be adapted to a Production gun WITHOUT modification is also legal. I have seen peep setups on Production guns that took two adapters to get them to fit but they were legal since there were no modifications made to the sights or bases. The Ken Light rib is popular since you can mount a scope to the longer rib and leave the open sight on the gun so you can switch back and forth. I suspect removing and reinstalling a scope may shift the zero somewhat but it is still legal. FYI the newer standard TC sights are much better than the original TC sights and have very good clicks and repeatable settings. I'm not talking about the fiber optic TC sights but the newest blade non-fiber optic type sights.

I've got a set of them on the bench, too bad they came off an Encore ML barrel instead of a G2. The good thing is that there is a high front sight also, as my 7TC barrel is shooting almost a foot high at 100 yards with the back sight bottomed out.

Sometimes you have to mix and match the TC front and rear sights to find the right combination to get a good zero for chickens and have plenty of adjustment then out to the rams. I tend to shoot high so the taller front sights work best for me depending upon the caliber I am shooting. I also tend to shoot wimp loads which also shoot higher than faster loads. I have also used the new style TC sights on XPs and Savage Striker pistols and even though the barrel contours are a little off, the sights work great. Always use a drop of blue Loctite on the screws to keep the sights in place.

I suspect my issues are, to a great extent, based on the 162gr bullets. Heavy bullets in handguns shoot higher, all else being equal. I'll have to try to sort out the higher front sight tomorrow, as I have some obligations with my two younger boys on Saturday with scouting. The club I shoot at doesn't open the range silhouette is shot on, aside from morning until noon on T and TH, so the evil bastid turkeys and rams might be a bit interesting. All in all, I'm looking forward to my first shoot. I'll be happy to hit 10. as production standing is the game. I've got to thank you guys for helping where you can.

My 10" 7 TCU was doing that . I had put a front sight from a 14" 223 on it . I couldn't get down anywhere near close on the chickens. I got lucky my Dad has a scoped 10" 223 he switched out from sights and problem solved. The 10" has a lot taller front.

The TC front sight blade is held in place by a small roll pin. I don't know if TC sells just the blades but that would be cheaper than buying the whole front sight assembly. That way you could try several different heights until you found the one that you liked.
