Hello, Joined mostly to get some info about these. I DO have SOME knowledge already. I bought IHMSA 73 (45 Colt 14") back in the late 70's, and still have it (still unfired, uncocked). I Also within the last year bought bare frame IHMSA 022 one of 25 of 50 with the inlaid silver IHMSA logo, short the 357 Mag 14 barrel. I understand that all were originally offered in both 10's and 14's, but hardly anyone opted for getting the 10 inch barrels. Obviously someone had sold the 14" barrel that came on it. I also have IHMSA 24X in 256 Win Mag, and it's complete with it's 14" barrel.
I also have (and this is where my real question lies), A IHMSA 3xx that shipped with a 14" 7TCU, one of 100 (like the 256 was, the other's being limited to 50), and alas it was short the 14" barrel as well. I'd like to complete that gun with a "proper" barrel, ie one that at least shipped on one of the 100 guns, but need some way to identify any and all characteristics that that set it apart from normal public production release. Does someone here still have theirs (original condition) that could send me (or post)some pix of their barrel to help my search. I know it will have the long checkered front ramp, and the "saddle" sight, I've got 3 that are slightly different, so *may* have one already. Can someone please send or post Pix of: 1) Barrel markings (address and chambering), and also some of the hinge lug, especially the bottom of the lug (I've notices some differences there, slight but still different as well as the 2 sides of the hinge lug).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jim
