Congrads to RP on his cast bullet 40
With a 30-30 contender

Thank you. It is about time I shot a score worthy of the classification. TC 14'' 30-30; rcbs 150-sp cast of mostly W W but a little Lino included. ; 17gr 4759. This is a UAS score. The scope is a Bushnell 2-6x trophy.
I should take time to thank my shooting partner and spotter, Dave Chaney.
Additionally, I had two entries in Practical Hunter this month. One was with a TC 10'' 357 barrel. Its load was the RCBS 180-sil and 10.5 ACC-#9. I put on a TC 2-7x and again with Dave's spotting hit 33. I re-entered using the FA44 with a Nikon scope, this time shooting alone while Dave was off menacing Rams with a 221 FB load. Its load is again with ACC#9 at 16gr. The bullets were RCBS 240-Sil for chicken and for P T R, I used a Lee bullet at 265gr. I hit 28; somewhat fewer than I would like but I'll try this again. RP

Congrats Richard. I know how hard it can be sometimes to hit that "sweet spot" when it comes to cast bullet loads. I've called on Richard's wisdom to help me find some really accurate cast bullet combinations.

Way to go Richard!!!!! I have been trying some cast in my 260 Rem Striker and found a good load for it with the RCBS 6.5 SILH mould and 18.0 grains for SR4759. Shot a 39 Saturday with a dead center hit on number two ram and he just stood there. Bummer!!! Love SR4759 for cast bullets. I used a 10' 30-30 last month with cast and 4759 then tried it in my 10" 30 Herrett this month with cast. Not good scores like you shot but still promising if I can just hold still. TCs were meant for 30-30s or maybe the other way around. Keep up the great scores. If you want to play with another 30 cal. bullet mould give the NOE 150 spire point mould a try. I haven't found a gun yet that didn't like that bullet.

Were the PH entries long course or short?

Still trying to figure out cast bullets. Watching y'all that have some sort of handle on it provides much needed incentive to persist!

Yah, the "30-30" chambering should have been a clue...Blame it on 3rd shift vacation recovery.

BTW, seems that I may have to head to the Big Bore range sooner than later. Found a 7-30 Waters Super 14 Contender with scope mount for the price of the frame. Ugly plastic grips on this one, but appears to allow a short finger to get all the way on the trigger! Just have to get it off layaway.

Nice shooting. I tried CB bit shot even worse than usual. Kudos to those of you that do it so well!
