The weather was awesome for our May match and those in attendance took advantage of that and delivered some impressive scores. First of all, we were fortunate to have on hand today the duo of Cliff Johnson Senior and Junior. Cliff Jr. recently completed a hitch in the Marine Corp, serving in Afghanistan. We all owe him a sincere debt of gratitude for his service. CJ shot some with us before his tour and he was ready to jump back in. His first attempt was in Practical Hunter 22LR, in which he wasn’t previously classified. Using a Ruger Charger he promptly dispatched all the targets. Well, he is certainly classified now. Welcome to International class. Just to show it was no fluke, he entered the same gun without the bipod in UAS and delivered another 40X40. Watch out, the Marines have landed. My brother Philip was on his game today and posted perfect scores in UAS, PH22LR, and PHSC. I’d like to extend special congratulations to Robert Stevens who shot his first ever 40X40 today. I won’t reveal Bob’s Age, but let’s just say that he is our “Elder Statesman” at Ascension Silhouette. Bob has been our most dependable attendee since he joined us about 15 years ago and always stays after the match to help load up. Being able to witness him finally reaching this goal was awesome. Way to go, Bob. Another noteworthy performance was the entry of Ellis Sisk. Using a FA revolver in PH22LR he manager a 39 for the second match in a row. I’m sure that 40 will arrive soon for him. Returning after a long absence was Jay Clark. Also on hand today was Region Two Director Allen Gaskin. We also had a couple of NRA Cowboy Lever Action shooters. Of the 12 IHMSA entries today we had six 40s and two 39s. A great day indeed! Many thanks to all who attended today and helped make it a memorable match.

Charlie, You have a tough crowd there in LA. Congrats to Bob on his first of many 40s to come and OOOOOO-RAH for Cliff Jr. Way to get back into the groove. Of course Philip had to knock down his fair share too. You run and awesome match!!!!
