Hello,
I have a 15" barrel i want to shorten to 10".
Bob Baker has advised I can take this to the New Zealand F.A. gunsmith to have this done otherwise I am up for about $600 round trip to send it to the US and back.
Will this still be legal for Production if I do this?

Re: Is this legal
Since this is the authorized FA factory gunsmith for NZ this should be legal since it is being performed by the factory representative. This type of change is one of the quirks in IHMSA rules where even if a private gunsmith made the modification and it still conformed to IHMSA rules, what difference would it make as to who did the modifications. You will end up with a Production legal gun either way. I would keep a receipt from the NZ smith and and ask him to provide info to show he is the authorized FA smith in NZ. I don't think you will ever be asked but it wouldn't hurt to have the paper work with you just in case.
