Sorry, I didn't see this until last night.

On July 31, I sent the region directors a recap of the WC board meeting, as well as a recap of the membership meeting. In the email, I asked board members to reach out to match directors and members for their input, suggesting we review their input in a few weeks. We are at that time frame now. You should always be able to contact your region director for faster responses.

In a nutshell....
At the WC board meeting, we invited some of the rule proposal authors to attend, along with some seasoned IHMSA veterans, and discussed each of the rule proposals. We did not have enough directors present to have a qualified vote. The proposals were also discussed at the dinner banquet. At both meetings, we received valid input, some of which required revisions to the proposal wording.

In the proposals I submitted on the forum....

Changing the rule submission deadline from 90 days to 45 days received virtually unanimous approval.

Receiving tentative approval...Allowing a method for sightless production guns to have (common) aftermarket sights added in a conventional manner to get them included in Production Category was also very popular. There were several suggestions as to how to make that happen, but in the end it was up to the board to generate the proper wording. The proposed maximum sight radius of 12.25 inches suggested for the Ruger Charger and the Crosman 1701P air gun was taken from a sight radius measurement on a 10" Browning Buckmark as it corresponds closely to the Ruger Charger and is pretty close to the Crosman dimensions as well. Specific comments favored the intent to bring those guns to a point they could be Production compliant within a reasonable guideline and not be turned into unlimited guns. The input received (very valid and much appreciated) was to eliminate the naming of the gun and simply make it applicable to guns that were not produced with sights.

Allowing muzzle brakes to be added to current guns without being measured against the current barrel length limit was popular, but needed final guidance and wording from the board. There was a lot of discussion on how specific wording could be misinterpreted. There was also discussion on current rules that seemed to conflict with the intent of the rule. The TC was mentioned with regards to allowing sight radius to be extended one inch when using aftermarket sights, but I haven't had a chance to read thru the rulebook to see where that conversation stemmed from.

So that's a quick summary. I urge members to read ALL the proposals and contact their regional director, Stephen, Dell, or myself, with your input. I've already started thinking about the 2026 season, I'm sure many of you have as well. I agree, it is time to get these proposals finalized and passed, rejected, or put on hold pending more input from clubs that implement something at the local level that proved itself viable.

??? I have a sore back, a little arthritis in each hand, and my left shoulder doesn't work quite right after rotator cuff surgery. Had a root canal a few weeks ago. Dunno about having a sore subject, but I'll ask the Doc next week when I see him. :))
