T/C contender vs. G2

Hello everyone, I'm new to the sport, and am looking for some advice.

After looking around a bit, a T/C seems like my best option. I was looking for a few opinions on the old style contenders versus the G2.
Several very helpful shooters at the tusco range yesterday told me that the old version is preferred in silhouette shooting for trigger adjustments.

however id like to hunt whitetail with it as well, and the cockedhammer>hammerdrop>cockedhammer feature of the G2 seems advantageous as well as the appeal of a new gun, and the grip that "bites" less frequently.

I'm relatively sold on .357 mag as my first barrel (straightwalled only for hunting in ohio), but i'm open to suggestions/advice on all aspects of this.

In a perfect world & money permitting, I would recommend a Contender frame for competition & a G2 frame for hunting. That way, you have an excellent competition trigger and a safe hunting handgun.

Also, I would like to suggest you consider the often overlooked .41 magnum over the .357 magnum.

Hard to beat the original contender. You can find barrels cheap for sale online ($125-175), don't need to go through the FFL crap and all that, and then you have a whole another caliber to shoot and play with. .357 wouldn't be a bad place to start, especially if your club offers field pistol. Get another .22 barrel and you could get a lot of shootin' in with just those two barrels.

I ended up getting a contender in a trade with a .357 barrel, and a very goofy .44 mag barrel. the trigger is light and crisp, but not a true hair trigger so its a slight compromise.

I took it to my second match yesterday, and had a good time. The washer on the for-end broke from recoil, which was frustrating, but I'm excited to build skill with it.

next up is a .22 barrel for sure.
