Contender...Old rear Sihouette sight

The bullets may be smaller but not the challenge.

Contender...Old rear Sihouette sight

Post by wildwood »

I bought a 14" 22LR match barrel with this rear sight on it. Was wondering if anybody knows how old this sight is or when it came available. The large dial has 5 numbers. I saved these picture's when I bought the barrel.

I bought a set of those in the early 90's. I tried it for a few matches and then went back to the sights that came on my barrel.

I too bought those sights in the early 90s. They were not repeatable. Replaced them with Ironsight Gunworks sights when aftermarket sights were approved. I think I actually gave them away. I may have a few blades for the front and rear sights.

You say you have blades for this sight? If so how much do you want for them.

Thanks Greg,
I was told by the previous owner that this was a TC aftermarket sight. Is this a TC or other sight?

They were made TC. It was their attempt to hold on to a share of the production gun market. Many shooters were buying other brands simply because they were offered with better sights. Not too long after they came out with this sight IHMSA adopted the aftermarket sight rule. That's when many shooters started using the Bomar and Ironsight Gunworks Sight rears and Lansing type fronts on their TCs.

Wildwood, I went through all my old sights last night. Sorry to report there were no extra blades for them. They must have went with the sights when I gave them away.

Wildwood, I think I have two blades that will fit that sight. I have one of those sights mounted on one of my TC barrels but can't find the barrel right now to verify these blades fit the sight. Pretty sure they do. Send PM to shultza at watchtv.net with your addy and I will send them to you.
