Re: which is hardest
That is a very subjective question. If you do the math, one half of three-fifths is .19. One-fifth is .20. Thus, FS targets are a bit smaller than scale. Also, FS is shot with .22LR ammunition, and we are all subject to the whims of manufacturers where in HS we are in control of our loads and can maximize them for the pistol. Given those two facts, I would vote for FS. But, again, this is a very subjective question and others may have excellent reasons for HS being more difficult.

Re: which is hardest
I've had much better luck with FS than HS. Maybe because you don't have to contend with the effects of recoil......the more the gun moves in recoil, the more critical consisitent technique is. Also, whereas it is true that relative to the distance to the target, fifth scale is smaller, you also have to factor that the bullet is larger in diameter relative to the target making it easier to contact the target with a marginal shot.

Re: which is hardest
For me half scale is harder. As Charlie said my .22 doesn't recoil much if at all. Plus it shoots much tighter groups at the farthest distance than my half scale gun. Although I believe my half scale gun is capable it's just that I'm not.

Re: which is hardest
Hi
While I enjoy 1/5 scale the most I also find it the more challanging of the two. I think that the low recoil of the .22's is what makes 1/5 scale more fun. I think the larger targets and the better wind bucking capabilities of the centerfire rounds are what make 1/2 scale the easier of the two. Both games will test your skill. Overall I believe that there have been many more 40's, 60's and 80's shot in 1/2 scale than 1/5 scale especially with open sights. Perfect scores in 1/5 scale with open sights are rare indeed but a few very special shooters have done it.

Re: which is hardest
I will say that 1/5th scale is harder - I have (2) 40's and (1) 60x60 in 1/2 scale. Best score in 1/5th scale is 38x40 (all scores scoped)

Re: which is hardest
I have never shot 1/5 scale so I'm just guessing here but I would think 1/5 scale would be tougher. I'm thinking about the much smaller targets being harder to hit in the first place. I know I have more target to play with on big bore and shoot better scores since I know I have move room for error (talking BB UAS) but have never shot the same scores with a scope 22 in SB UAS and I think it is due to the much smaller targets are not as forgiving when the sights are not aligned 100%. I know I have made bad hits on BB UAS with my Striker and got away with a sloppy sight picture or bad trigger squeeze but I don't get that same lucky feeting on SB UAS and I'm sure 1/5 has to be quite a bit tougher than SB UAS. I wish our range offered 1/5 scale to try some time but I can embarrass myself already on SB anyway.
