Practical Hunter question

Post by braud357 »

A quick question - can Practical Hunter category be fired from the creedmore position ? The rules talk about prone, sitting, etc. I know that it says "any safe position"; just looking for a definitive answer - THANKS !

I would say YES, creedmore can be used which makes me question why ported revolvers are not allowed as Production/Revolver legal if they can be used in PH. Do we have a conflict in rules?????????

Craig, Break out some of that moldy money and get yourself a SBH Hunter in 41 or 44 mag. That would be perfect in PH. By the way, you can shoot PH at LHA just by marking your scorecard. The targets are the same so you can shoot it anytime you want. Will give Harold a reason to update our match report with the new PH classes!!!!!

Thanks fellows ! I have pretty much arrived at the realization that my open-sight shooting days are almost over. I have been considering other categories to possibly compete in, and thought of Practical Hunter. I even have the "perfect" gun (well, not really). Tonedaddy - you should like this one. I have a stainless Blackhawk in 357 Magnum, fitted with a Bushnell Elite 3200 2-6X scope. But, I am sure that it is not legal, because it has a 10" Shilen barrel installed ! I am sure that I will not be able to pass this off as a "cosmetic" modification !

I may use my 22 Hornet Contender for short course, and this gun, though illegal, in long-range. I have shot this gun a lot in the past - and it is a "40" gun. I I also have a Super 14 Contender in 6.5 TCU that I could use in for long-range; it is well below the maximum length, but it has a 2.5-8X Leupold. Hmmm - can I use it with the scope set on 6X ?? Decisions - Decisions !! :-?

Even if they would not be "official" entries, just keep on shootin!!!!! I think we all have guns we would like to try on steel that wouldn't pass inspection but what the heck, have fan with them anyway. Beautiful 357 by the way. I'm trying to locate a stainless scope base for my 10" Super Black Hawk will give PH a try.

Obviously, we are closet Ruger Super Blackhawk owners. Here's mine, a 10" chopped to 8 3/8", Magna-Ported, blue printed & bead blasted by Magna-Port with a Burris 1 1/2x4 scope mounted with an SSK T'SOB mount. It loves 320 grain LBT wide flat nose cast bullets!
