The bullets may be smaller but not the challenge.

Aftermarket receiver assembly for Charger

Post by contender1121 »

Does anyone know of an aftermarket receiver/bolt assembly for a Charger that is classified as a pistol component rather than a rifle part?
Volquartsen makes a kit that has the receiver and trigger assembly but the price is scary! By the time you're done you bought an Anschutz.
However, all that I've been able to find 10/22 receivers that are out of the factory door as rifle units and then one must deal with the Feds and their dumb-ass short barrel rifle red tape. There are no differences in the mechanics, just serial numbers.
You can turn a pistol into a rifle but not the reverse.
Also, can anyone recommend an aftermarket Charger stock that is good for the flop position (short grip)?

I heard that Kidd will now sell his action as undesignated. If so, I would highly recommend it. I have several Kidd components on my Charger - they are topnotch !! Concerning the stock - you will probably have to modify a factory stock - shorten the grip, and add height to the forend - this is what I did !

Thanks for the info! I looked at Kidd's site but I guess I need to send an email.
I shoot at OKC's range and it is a little downhill for small bore so I might not need to mod the forend. I'm still in the thinking stage as to proceeding with the project. Gotta find all the pieces first and see if I need to mortgage anything.

braud357 is correct. Kidd verified that their receivers can be legally installed on the Charger so the SBR bs is not an issue.
