Scope for flop

Post by kg4tyr »

What does everyone use for a scope in the flop position on their 22 pistols. I shoot a Charger and cannot get comfortable laying on my back, in the dead frog position. I constantly am shaking /moving and have not only plateaud, but regressed in my scores. I want something low to mid ranged in price and would like target turrets, but would use a screwdriver to adjust sight settings if need be.

I have been using a 8 - 32X BSA scope on my flop Charger - shooting it at 24X. Lose a bit of clarity at the higher power settings. The repeatability was been very good. I bought this scope cheap, because I did not want to invest a ton of money into my flop "experiment" before knowing if it would work for me. I am getting ready to install a T-24 Weaver on it, and the BSA could use a new home. One word of caution - I had to put a 15 MOA Tactical Solutions scope base on mine, because with a factory base - the gun shot EXTREMELY low. All in all, I have been very satisfied with my flop gun - using all those X's of scope feels like cheating (well, just a little bit !) You will also have to shorten the grip, unless you have huge hands. I also have a heavy, fluted Green Mountain barrel on mine, and still have found that I need to hold on to the gun to get the best accuracy. More weight is a GOOD thing when shooting flop. I have shot my 10" Anschutz Exemplar in the flop position, and it feels very light, and did not settle in well. Send me an e-mail and we can perhaps make a deal on the BSA scope. - Philip Braud braud357_2@yahoo.com

Flop charger 12x fixed weaver
Flop 22 contender 3x9 lup II
Flop 7tcu contender pistol scope 2x6 bush
Flop 222 contender 6x18 Simmons
I've got big hands so I can use full grip and stock
And I'm not a INT. Shooter so take with a grain of salt ~o)

I use a Simmons 6-18x I think. I shoot it on 14x. That's what works for me. As Phillip said heavier is better. I don't know exactly what mine weighs, but it has to be close to 7 lbs. Just remember you have to experiment and see what works for you.
