Crazy Idea
Crazy Idea
I was showing a friend my Remington 1858 the other day. He gave me an idea. Has anyone ever shot a black powder match? Would it even be legal?

In field pistol, as long as you loaded a legal cartridge case with black powder, it should be legal. I dont think a ball and cap type revolver would be legal as the rules state “straight wall pistol cartridge with maximum length etc. With the exceptions .22 hornet, 32-20 .22 LR etc.
So cased ammunition must be used. Also I cant see anybody loading a cap and ball revolver in 30 seconds, and handling in a safe manner( muzzle downrange) as proscribed in the rules.
Misfires would be extremely problematic.
But it would be a blast to use cased black powder cartridges. And if the wind was barely blowing you could obstruct the other competitors line of sight and hide their targets
Im all about working the advantages!
