You are correct. The disc he was making on his lathe are not production legal. The disc that I was using were watch crystals which are available in any millimeter size by tenths of a millimeter.
What I was using is production legal, what he was making would only qualify as an unlimited sight.

You know I am one to push the envelope and have tried everything.

The most important thing for people to remember about production is the line “fit without alteration”

And that means alteration to neither the part nor the gun.

Jim,
OK, now you have me confused (easily done). How did younot violate the "fit without alteration" rule if you are using watch crystals? Is not drilling an aperture hole considered an alteration? Or applying a black or other color dot? I searched for watch crystals with varying size holes/dots in their centers with no luck. Please direct me to where you found them. Just saying.

Watch crystals are a standard catalog item. Doesn’t have to be a gun catalog. They are available in any size so you find the size that fits in the front globe in this case a Lyman 93.
The crystals do not have a hole drilled in them, I painted a tiny black dot in the center.
Under production rules, section 9 under sights subsection C” sights may be painted or smoked”

Melvin, you are sooooooo right! I am a very tricky one!

Very tricky. I throw in the towel. Did you ever have to cite that at a match?
What I want to know is what is the best wood for smoking sights? I'm rather partial to mesquite.
