I emailed Dave Campbell at Hodgdon too and confirmed that it will no longer be made. Then I read "somewhere" that there would be one more run of it. Of course finding ANY powder these days is tough, never mind favorites!

And SR-4759 certainly was a favorite of mine... :((

Well, I've been lucky I guess, because ive managed to find
8 lbs of sr-4759 to add to the 5lb can I already had. I'm figuring
that this will last me awhile as I only use it in my 7ihmsa and my
.500 smiths. But, I'm not gonna stop if i find some at the right
price! :)

When I talked to the Hodgdon tech support the last run was going to happen in April so whatever they produce now will be the last powder made. They said it should be available into 2015 based upon their past sales figures but if people know it will no longer be produced I suspect it will dry up sooner than that.
Lockhart - I have a 7IHMSA and 7IHMSA-X and was wondering if SR4759 would work in those guns. I would like to discuss some of your loads and results. Please email me at shultza@watchtv.net

Striker, I tried e-mail, but something got stuck, wont send it. I am using loads
I found in the Speer number 8 reloading manual, and they are for the 7mm-08,
a very similar type cartridge. I am using 19 grains of SR-4759 behind either a
Hornady 139 or sierra 140 grain. I believe you can go as high as 23 or so grains,
but I started out low. I havent shot this in a match yet, in fact havent even sighted
my Wichita MK 40 in yet, but im going to shoot on paper first. One thing about
SR-4759 is it makes one helluva BOOM when the gun goes off! :D

Another route is H 4895 according to Hodgon it can be reduced to 60% of max , that's the way I understood what I read . The info is on their site under youth loads . That could get your case volume but probably not as economical as 4759 . Without any manuals in front of me I think H4895 works in a fairly wide range of cartridges. I read somewhere that western would be dropping 5744 also

Tim you are correct. H4895 is a very versatile powder. And yes, it can be reduced to 2/3 of the top loads in many cartridges. In my 30x47 (effectively a long necked .300Sav), the top loads approach 45gr. I load as low as 28 using a cast 150 to 165gr bullet. Western, formerly Accurate Powders, markets A-2495 which is their comparable powder. Many powders respond to being oriented toward the primer when using less than full density. Most will not allow such lessened density as 4895 in the same burn rate. Richard

Lockhart, I use the 19.0 load of SR4759 in my 30DC and 6.5BR. I thought about trying in my 7INT and 7INT-X. Should work great with cast bullets. I haven't tried reduced loads with 4895 but might give that a try too. I shoot 23.0 of AA5744 in my 260 Striker and will also try that in my two 7INTs. Thanks for the good load info.

Have to agree with the 4895....I've been using it in many different cartridges over the years in full and reduced loads. One of my favorites is 31 grains in a .308.....which I got from Russel Troupe(and many of us remember how many 40's in a row he shot). :D
